Rings inside each ear invite a sequence of alternating colors. Rich purple across the body, lighter pink near the mouth, and a darker center in each circle would recall its usual palette. You could instead assign a different shade to every ring.

Start with the ears, then fill the belly and arms while keeping the little claws visible. In the angled view, follow the edge of the open mouth carefully. A few lines radiating outward can suggest sound without covering the character.
