Squirtle’s colors

Use light blue on the skin, warm brown on the outer shell and cream on the belly and shell edge for the familiar look. Color each belly plate separately with slightly different pressure to keep the structure visible.

The eyes can be saved for last, using a dark outline and one small white highlight to preserve the lively expression.

What if you chose your own colors?

Squirtle pages are well suited to crayons and washable markers because most sections are clearly separated and not too narrow. More experienced colorists can add a darker blue shadow beneath the shell or a reflected aqua light along the face.

Bubbles, gentle waves, beach pebbles or a simple pool background reinforce the water theme while leaving enough white space for the character to remain easy to read.

Recognizing Squirtle

Squirtle is a small Water-type Pokémon shaped like a cheerful blue turtle, with a rounded shell, large eyes and a curled tail. Its broad head and simple limbs create generous coloring spaces, while the shell sections introduce an easy repeating pattern for beginners.
