Primeape’s colors

Apply pale beige with short outward strokes so the coat feels uneven rather than perfectly smooth. Shade the lower half in light brown or cool gray, then use deeper brown for the wrists and ankles.

The ears and pig-like nose can be soft pink. Primeape pages look especially lively when the pose is supported by motion lines, cracked earth or a cloud of dust.

What if you chose your own colors?

Markers give the limbs a forceful graphic appearance; layered pencils are better for the shaggy edge. Keep the area around the fists relatively clear and place the darkest background values behind the pale torso.
